Today is the 11th day of the Omer — Netzach shebeGevurah “Endurance within Discipline”

Netzach shebeGevurah—
“endurance within discipline”—
describes a subtle yet powerful spiritual quality.

While Gevurah represents discipline, restraint, and inner strength,
Netzach introduces the dimension of endurance, perseverance, and victory.

It is therefore not merely about strict discipline, but about the ability
to remain consistent and steadfast in one’s inner work,
even when
facing resistance.

Within Breslov Chassidism, which is deeply characterized by inner honesty and a personal relationship with Hashem, G’d,
this aspect takes on a particularly vivid meaning.

A person is not seen as perfect, but as someone
who constantly struggles,
falls, and rises again.

It is precisely here that Netzach shebeGevurah operates:

The strength
not to become discouraged by one’s own strictness.

But according to the teachings of Rebbe Nachman, of blessed memory, despair is one of the greatest obstacles in spiritual life.

Therefore, Gevurah requires the quality of Netzach—
the ability to keep going despite inner judgment.

It is the quiet determination to say:

“I will not give up, even if I do not meet my own standards.”

This combination is expressed most clearly in the practice of hitbodedut (personal conversation with Hashem).

There, one often encounters one’s own limitations and inner strictness.

But Netzach shebeGevurah means continuing this conversation every day—
not perfectly,
but honestly and persistently.

In this way, discipline becomes not a barrier, but a path:

A disciplined,
yet living relationship with Hashem,
sustained by patience with oneself.

The true “victory” (Netzach) lies not in perfection,
but in continuing forward.
